Colombo, Sri Lanka, April 16 -- Sri Lanka Army issued the following press release:
20th Battalion of the Gajaba Regiment, deployed under 221 Infantry Brigade, successfully organised a community welfare programme on 12th April 2025 at the Battalion Headquarters, Pulmoddai, as part of the Civil-Military Coordination Programme.
The programme was organised under the guidance of Commander, Security Forces (East) with the close supervision of the General Officer Commanding of the 22 Infantry Division. Mr. Sameera Gunarathne, a Sri Lankan resident in Australia extended the financial generosity for the programme through the coordination of the Commander of the 221 Infantry Brigade.
A dry rations worth over Rs. 5,000.00 were accordingly distributed among pregnant mothers from low-income families residing in the Paranamedawachchiya and Thennamaramwadiya Grama Niladhari Divisions, which fall under the area of the battalion.
To ensure the success of this welfare initiative, 03 Officers, 20 Other Ranks, a Public Health Midwife, pregnant mothers and their family members were benefited from the event. The programme concluded with lunch treat for all.
