Colombo, Sri Lanka, April 10 -- Sri Lanka Army issued the following news release:

Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, Commander of the Army, made an official visit to the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) on 08 April 2025.

Upon arrival, he was warmly received by the Deputy Commandant (Overlooking) of the SLAVF, along with other Senior Officers. In accordance with military traditions, the Commander was accorded a ceremonial Guard Turnout at the entrance. He then proceeded to the wreath-laying ceremony held to pay tribute to war heroes at the Memorial of Captain Saliya Aladeniya, along with Major General D.K.S.K Dolage USP nps psc, the Commandant of the SLAVF.

Afterwards, the Commander of the Army reviewed a Guard of Honour presented by troops of the Sri Lanka Artillery at the parade square.

The newly constructed Rendezvous Cricket Ground was inaugurated by the Commander of the Army. The Army Chief took time to engage with Officers and Other Ranks during an interactive session.

Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks of the SLAVF were present at the event.
