Enhancing Cyber Resilience and Digital Safety in the Public Sector

The Defence Cyber Command (DCC) of the Ministry of Defence successfully conducted a comprehensive Cyber Awareness Programme for officials of the Public Service Commission on 21 August 2026.

As government operations and administrative services increasingly rely on digital infrastructure, this capacity-building initiative aimed to raise awareness of modern cyber threats and promote secure digital practices among public servants. Safeguarding institutional data and maintaining public trust are critical components of a modernised government, making cyber hygiene an essential skill for today's administrative workforce.

The programme was conducted under the strategic guidance of the "Clean Sri Lanka" initiative, leveraging the expertise and resources of the Ministry of Defence. The workshop aimed to equip government officials with the practical knowledge and skills needed to protect sensitive administrative information and defend against digital vulnerabilities.

To ensure comprehensive organizational resilience, the programme brought together a diverse group of participants from the Public Service Commission, including executive officers, administrative staff, human resources personnel, and IT administrators.

The program featured a structured agenda led by the DCC's cybersecurity experts, providing both theoretical foundations and practical insights into emerging cyber threats. The specialized lecture sessions included:

Through ongoing initiatives like this, the Defence Cyber Command continues to support national efforts to strengthen cyber resilience and promote digital safety across all essential state institutions in Sri Lanka.
