Colombo, Sri Lanka, April 16 -- Ministry of Defence and Urban Development issued the following news release:

A reception was held onboard the Indonesian Navy sailing ship KRI BIMA SUCI - 945, currently on a goodwill visit to the Port of Colombo, yesterday (15 April).

The Deputy Minister of Defence, Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd), graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while the Defence Secretary, Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd), attended as the Guest of Honour.

The dignitaries were warmly received by the Ambassador of Indonesia to Sri Lanka, H.E. Devi Gustina Tobing, and Commander Sugeng Hariyanto, Commanding Officer of the vessel.

Addressing the gathering, Ambassador H.E. Tobing recalled the longstanding friendly relations between Indonesia and Sri Lanka, expressing confidence in further strengthening bilateral cooperation, particularly in maritime affairs.

The arrival of the vessel marks a key highlight of the ASEAN Plus Cadet Sail (APCS) - 2026 programme, which features a diverse contingent of naval cadets from 26 nations sailing alongside their Indonesian counterparts. During the visit, officer under-trainees of the Sri Lanka Navy will participate in a series of professional engagements onboard the ship, aimed at enhancing operational knowledge and fostering camaraderie.

The event was attended by the Commanders of the Sri Lanka Army, Sri Lanka Navy and Sri Lanka Air Force, along with the Inspector General of Police, members of the Diplomatic Corps and senior military officers.
