Colombo, Sri Lanka, July 3 -- Ministry of Defence and Urban Development issued the following news release:
Deputy Minister of Defence, Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd), recently chaired two Public Day programs held in Colombo (01 July) and Pambala, Chilaw (02 July).
The first program was held at the Deputy Minister's office in Colombo, where members of the veteran community, families of Tri Forces personnel and members of the public were given the opportunity to present their grievances and requests directly to the Deputy Minister. A wide range of matters relating to land issues, pensions, compensation, welfare, employment and other administrative concerns were taken up for discussion.
The second Public Day program was conducted in Pambala, Chilaw, bringing the Government's public service closer to the local community and providing residents with an opportunity to raise their concerns and seek assistance from the relevant authorities.
During both programs, the Deputy Minister carefully listened to the concerns raised by the participants and instructed the respective officials to take prompt action within the relevant legal and administrative frameworks. He also emphasised the importance of delivering efficient, transparent and people centric public services while ensuring that citizens receive timely responses to their concerns.
Puttlam District Parliamentarians Mr. Gayan Janaka and Mrs. Hiruni Wijesinghe, and several other local political representatives were associated with the program held in Chilaw.
