The Deputy Minister of Defence, Major General (Retd) Aruna Jayasekara, undertook an observation tour of the Emergency Operation Center (EOC) yesterday (Dec 01) of the Disaster Management Center (DMC) to review the ongoing disaster response operations and the Center's vital contribution to national relief and mitigation efforts.
During the engagement, the Deputy Minister placed special emphasis on the remarkable dedication, strength, and resilience of the volunteer teams especially the youth, whose tireless commitment has become a true lifeline for affected communities. Their energy, teamwork, and unwavering willingness to step forward in the most challenging moments have played a decisive role in safeguarding lives.
He conveyed his deep appreciation to all officers, staff, and volunteers for their exceptional service, noting that their united effort reflects the very best of our nation's spirit, compassion, and courage.
