Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh visited the Ministry of Defence at the Defence Headquarters Complex (DHQC) in Kotte today (09 September). He was accorded a ceremonial Guard of Honour and warmly received by the Deputy Minister of Defence, Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd).
Addressing the gathering, Deputy Minister of Defence Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd) highlighted India's longstanding support to Sri Lanka across numerous areas, as well as the strong defence ties and close cooperation between the two countries. He expressed his appreciation for India's continued assistance to Sri Lanka, particularly during emergencies and challenging situations.
Speaking on the occasion, the Indian Defence Minister underscored the longstanding, close relations between India and Sri Lanka, emphasising that the strong bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two countries would continue to strengthen in the years ahead.
Overlooking Secretary to the Ministry of Defence and Additional Secretary (Civil Security and Development), Mrs. Indika Wijegunawardana, Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka H.E. Santosh Jha, tri forces commanders, heads of institutions under the purview of the Defence Ministry, members of the high-ranking Indian defence delegation and senior defence ministry officials were also present on the occasion.
