Colombo, Sri Lanka, June 12 -- Sri Lanka Air Force issued the following news release:
A specialized combat training programme for
the participants of the 11th Contingent for UN peacekeeping mission in
the Central African Republic was successfully conducted at the SLAF
Combat Training School (CTS) Diyatalawa, on 10 June
2025 under the supervision of the Commanding Officer, Air
Commodore DMR Dassanayake, prior to the deployment of personnel for the
mission.
A total of 102 participants took part in the
programme, including 16 officers (with two lady officers) and 86 other
ranks, including five airwomen. The training programme was supervised by
the Officer Commanding Training, Group Captain AKW Lakshman, while the
course was conducted by the Chief Instructor of the Recruit Training
Squadron, Squadron Leader RMAM Rathnayake, with the support of other
officers and experienced instructors at the
school
.
During the training period, participants were
exposed to a comprehensive training package that included physical
training, unarmed combat, drill, fire drill, fire awareness programmes,
weapon training and range firing.
The closing
ceremony was graced by the Commanding Officer, Air Commodore DMR
Dassanayake, as the Chief Guest. During his speech, he congratulated all
the participants for their commitment and successful completion of the
training, while emphasizing the significance of professionalism,
discipline and dedication when serving in a UN peacekeeping mission.
Officers and instructors also attended the occasion, marking the
successful conclusion of the training
programme.
