Colombo, Sri Lanka, July 16 -- Ministry of Defence and Urban Development issued the following news release:
The Sri Lankan Defence Secretary, Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd), currently on an official visit to India to attend the 5th BIMSTEC National Security Chiefs' Meeting, met the Secretary General of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC), Ambassador Indra Mani Pandey, on the sidelines of the meeting in New Delhi today (16 July).
During the cordial meeting, the two dignitaries exchanged views on regional security cooperation and the importance of strengthening collaboration among BIMSTEC member states to address emerging security challenges. They also discussed the role of BIMSTEC in promoting peace, stability and sustainable development in the Bay of Bengal region.
