Colombo, Sri Lanka, Sept. 30 -- Ministry of Defence and Urban Development issued the following news release:
Lieutenant General Joel "JB" Vowell, Deputy Commanding General of the United States Army Pacific (USARPAC), met the Deputy Minister of Defence, Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd), and the Defence Secretary, Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd), separately today (30 September).
During the cordial meetings, discussions focused on strengthening defence cooperation between Sri Lanka and the United States, with particular emphasis on joint training, enhancing interoperability, and further strengthening the ability to respond effectively to crises and emerging security challenges.
The meetings also provided an opportunity to exchange views on matters of mutual interest and explore avenues for further cooperation.
Charge d'Affaires of the United States Embassy in Sri Lanka David Myers, Defence Attache Lieutenant Colonel Matthew House, and other senior officials from the U.S. Embassy and U.S. Army Pacific were also present during the meetings.
